Unclassified Site Museum, 2016

SANGREE, an artistic collaboration between René Godínez Pozas Carlos Lara

Unclassified Site Museum was a site-specific, temporary art installation at a former RTD bus terminal in Denver by Mexico City based artist duo SANGREE. It was located on plaza of the vacant terminal on Market Street between 16th and 17th Streets in downtown Denver.

From a distance, the artwork appears to be a large, minimalist sculpture. As one gets closer, the subterranean windows reveal an archeological dig site, in which visible evidence of an ancient civilization can be seen. Within the window, architectural remnants of a multi-family residential compound are revealed. The entirety of the block-long archeological site is visible though the scale-model displayed within the Black Cube shipping container, which is also on-site.
